Susie’s story
It all began with an Easy Bake Oven and a very kind and patient big brother who would try Susie’s creations. Following a bread apprenticeship in Cohasset MA Susie found her passion for baking but especially for creating bespoke cakes. Raising her wonderful children and a vibrant sales career spanned 35 years but over that time she never forgot her passion for cake artistry! During Covid Susie picked up her craft again, working nights and weekends while balancing a corporate career and thanks to her amazing clients has made the jump to full time caking!!!!
It’s been pretty dang close to a Hallmark story. One cake order and some serious coaching from a beloved older sister, grew to hundreds of beautiful creations. Susie finds time to donate to community events, created Thankful Thursdays to give back to her beloved town of Deerfield and most of all stay humble while perfecting her craft. Susie can be found most early mornings in her studio dreaming up designs (when her lovely neighbors notice the cakery lite on well before dawn) and on very special days teaching her granddaughter the secrets of caking.
In 2023 Susie was invited to be a participating artist on the Deerfield Arts Tour! It is an honor to be included in an event which features talented artists in all mediums. Susie will be holding workshops in her studio featuring Russian tips and sugar art during this year’s event.
Susie and her amazing family launched at the Deerfield Fair in 2023 selling more than 2000 cuppies, making more friends and sharing the love with her community!
In 2024 Susie is launching custom printed cookies, a full charitable arm of the cakery, studying with 4 master cakers who will teach her the art of freehand painting on cakes, blown sugar art, calligraphy and cookie design.
Her customers are her valued allies in this dream and a day does not go by that she is not aware of the enormous support of the Deerfield NH community!
